Distribution: Throughout US and Canada. Description/ Field Marks: Typically white head and thorax. Possible a species complex of several cryptic species. Similar Species: Argyresthia goedartella (Linnaeus, 1758), head and thorax golden. This Eurasian species, apparently restricted in North America to Alaska, has historically been confused with calliphanes. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: calliphanes Meyrick, 1913 (Argyresthia) - MONA 1983: 2444   Type locality: Toronto, ON.
