Distribution: Canada: QC, ON; USA: ME to MI south to NY, IL and in the Appalachians south to NC. Similar Species: Chionodes franclemonti Hodges, 1999 lacks a hair pencil in the anal area of the hindwing found in tarmes. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: tarmes Hodges, 1999 (Chionodes)   Type locality: Holotype: Allegan Co., MI. Taxonomic Notes: Chionodes tarmes Hodges, 1999, n. sp., MONA Fascicle 7.6.
