Synonymy:
  • instabilella of authors; (not Douglas, 1846)
  • Taxonomic Notes: Scrobipalpa instabilella of authors; (not Douglas, 1846) from California, previously reported as Scrobipalpa instabilella (Douglas, 1846) in Povolný (1998), was determined to represent two related, undescribed species in Huemer & Karsholt (2010: 189-190). "True instabilella, a European species, is treated as extralimital to NA by Lee & Landry (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023).
