Similar Species: Parabagrotis insularis lacks the black thoracic collar found in Parabagrotis formalis [11047.1]. Both species have a multitude of forms. Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: insularis (Grote, 1876) (Agrotis) - MONA 1983: 11048 emarginata (Grote, 1876) (Agrotis) facula (Grote, 1876) (Agrotis) faculana (Strand, 1916) (Triphaena) inelegans (Smith, 1890) (Agrotis) meta (Smith, 1903) (Rhynchagrotis) niger (Smith, 1903) (Rhynchagrotis) Taxonomic Notes: Parabagrotis insularis: Formerly placed in the genus Rhynchagrotis. Previously listed at 11048.
