Similar Species:
  • Xanthopastis moctezuma Dyar, 1913 is not found north and east of southern Texas.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • regnatrix (Grote, 1863) (Philochrysa)
      Type locality: Pennsylvania.
  • timais of authors; (not Cramer, [1780]) (Phalaena) misappl.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Xanthopastis regnatrix (Grote, 1863), a name listed by Kimball (1965) and later as a synonym of Xanthopastis timais (Cramer ([1780]) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is again recognized as regnatrix by Lafontaine & Schmidt (2011), a member of a species complex involving at least six species.
