Type locality: "Oajaca, Mexico".
Genitalia: See Todd (1966).
Similar Species:
  • Opsigalea blanchardi is smaller, FWL = ~17 vs. ~23 mm for ocellata.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Nystalea ocellata Walker, 1865
Taxonomic Notes: Opsigalea ocellata (Walker, 1865) is now recognized within the North American fauna, specimens from Arizona identified by Noel McFarland. A male collected in 2009 was confirmed with dissection by Cliff Ferris.
