Distribution: UT, ID, WA, OR, CA. (BOLD, PNW Moths, LepSoc.). Type locality: Eureka, UT. Description/ Field Marks: Forewings typically with posterior half of both am. and pm. lines poorly defined or absent. Similar Species: Sympistis meadiana (Morrison, 1875) typically has forewings with both am. and pm. lines reaching the inner margin. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Oxycnemis orbicularis Barnes & McDunnough, 1912 Taxonomic Notes: Sympistis orbicularis: Formerly placed in the genus Oxycnemis.
