Similar Species:
  • Ponometia bicolorata (Barnes & McDunnough, 1912)
  • Ponometia clausula (Grote, 1883) is smaller with grayer outer half of forwing.

Synonymy:
  • semiflava (Guenée, 1852) (Xanthoptera) - MONA 1983: 9085; TL: North America.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Ponometia semiflava: Formerly placed in the genus Tarachidia, ZooKeys, 39: 1-160.
