Distribution: Suggested by Heppner as a species straying into, but not breeding in, Florida. Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: apta Walker 1858 (Ophideres) chalcogramma Walker 1865 (Ophideres) hybrida Fabricius 1775 (Noctua) materna of authors not Linnaeus 1767 (Phalaena) Taxonomic Notes: Eudocima apta: Eudocima materna (Linnaeus, 1867) is considered to be an Old World species and is replaced in the New World by Eudocima apta (Walker, [1858]).
