Taxonomic Notes: Pterocypha defensata Walker, 1862 was listed as a synonym of 7299 Pterocypha floridata (Walker, [1863]) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). But defensata has priority and floridata should be treated as the junior synonym. This error was corrected in Becker & Miller (2002), J. Lepid. Soc., 56(1): 41.
