- 5205 Diaphania modialis (Dyar, 1912) - The type of infimalis is apparently lost and there is currently no consistent way to separate the two "species", see Brau (2017), South. Lepid. News 39: 157-158.

| Taxonomic Notes: |
Diaphania infimalis (Guenée, 1854) was treated as extralimital north of Mexico in Kimball (1965) with Diaphania infimalis modialis (Dyar, 1912) raised to full species status. Whether modialis was ever formally elevated to species is unclear and some authors continue to treat it as a subspecies. Both species are listed following Munroe's treatment in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). |
