Taxonomic Notes: |
Celypha cespitana (Hübner, [1817]) is treated as extralimital (Palearctic) based on DNA evidence in Gilligan et al. (2020). BOLD data seems to support treating the widespread North American species we currently know as C. cespitana as a separate species. Celypha instrutana (Clemens, 1865) is the senior available name for Nearctic specimens and it's usage is putative. Further study is needed to confirm the status of C. cespitana and its synonyms in North America. |
