Description/
Field Marks:
Flies in the fall. Forewing color is variable ranging from all orange to all black; a single hyaline area at the base of the hindwing. (Engelhardt 1946)
Similar Species:
  • (Alcathoe) pepsioides Engelhardt, 1925 flies in the summer; three hyaline areas at the base of the hindwing. (Engelhardt 1946)
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Alcathoe autumnalis Engelhardt, 1946
Taxonomic Notes: Alcathoe autumnalis Engelhardt, 1946 is elevated from synonymy of 2622 Alcathoe carolinensis.
