Similar Species:
  • Specimens from AZ may be of Megacraspedus exilis Walsingham, 1909, based on the appearance of a subcostal spot at one-third from base of forewing.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Neda plutella Chambers, 1874
Taxonomic Notes: Megacraspedus plutella (Chambers, 1874) is the only member of its genus north of Mexico but samples believed to be this species appear to be in or near Metzneria, Isophrictis, or Monochroa, based on dissection.
