Synonymy: caryaefoliella (Clemens, [1862]) (Nepticula) juglandifoliella of authors; not Clemens, [1862] (Stigmella) misid. ostryaefoliella of authors; (not Clemens, [1862]) (Nepticula) misid. Taxonomic Notes: Stigmella caryaefoliella (Clemens, 1861), formerly a synonym of Stigmella juglandifoliella (Clemens, [1862]), is reinstated as a valid species in Nieukerken et al. (2016).
