Distribution: AZ, NM, CO, western TX. Similar Species: Alypiodes bimaculata typically has forewing with a longer tapered white basal spot, shorter and more oval in flavilinguis, and prominent white markings on the apex of the tegula, lacking in most flavilinguis. Larvae have white middorsal and subdorsal stripes, lacking in flavilinguis, and more regular black banding. The subventral area above the prolegs is mostly white, not jet black as in flavilinguis. A blue mark near the inner margin ~2/3 from base is found in some flavilinguis but not bimaculata. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: flavilinguis Grote, 1883 (Alypiodes); Holotype: “Near Hot Springs, Las Vegas N.M.”. Taxonomic Notes: Alypiodes flavilinguis Grote, 1883 is elevated from synonymy of 9312 Alypiodes bimaculata (Herrich-Schäffer, 1853) in Gruber et al. (2021).
