Distribution: Holotype: USA: Florida, Monroe Co. Similar Species: 8598 Melipotis perpendicularis Two cryptic species represented by specimens from Arizona and Texas in BOLD:ABZ4611, the BIN group which also includes M. florida. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Melipotis florida Troubridge, 2020 Taxonomic Notes: Melipotis florida Troubridge, 2020, n. sp., Insecta Mundi, 0789: 16; Fig. 26a, 26b, 65, 122.
