Similar Species: Macrosaccus morrisella (Fitch, 1859) forewing has a white basal streak. Macrosaccus robiniella (Clemens, 1859) has forewing basal strigulae more oblique. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: uhlerella Fitch 1859 (Argyromiges) - MONA 1983: 0801; Type locality: not given, possibly Salem, NY (Davis & De Prins 2011:52) amorphae Frey & Boll 1878 (Lithocolletis) amorphaeella Chambers 1877 (Lithocolletis) Taxonomic Notes: Macrosaccus uhlerella (Fitch, 1859), n. comb., was formerly in the genus Phyllonorycter (Davis & De Prins 2011).
