Synonymy: torva Hübner 1803 (Bombyx) musculus Kiriakoff 1963 (Peridea) nigra Wu & Fang 2003 (Notodonta) simplaria Graef 1881 (Notodonta) Taxonomic Notes: Notodonta torva: Previously treated as Notodonta simplaria (Graef, 1881), now viewed as a North American form of a Holarctic species.
