Type locality (macrops): Tehuacan, Mexico.
Type locality (emmeli): Arizona, Santa Cruz Co., Pen?a Bianca.

Paonias emmeli Eitschberger, 2002
Taxonomic Notes: Paonias macrops (Gehlen, 1933), rev. stat. (St Laurent in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023), was proposed as a subspecies of Paonias myops (Smith, 1797), raised to full species status in Eitschberger (2002), then subsequently treated as a subspecies in Kitching et al. (2018). This species includes Paonias emmeli Eitschberger, 2002 as a new synonym in St Laurent in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023).
