Similar Species:
  • Macrosaccus robiniella (Clemens, 1859) lacks well defined forewing basal streak and basal strigulae are more oblique.
  • Macrosaccus uhlerella (Fitch, 1859) lacks well defined forewing basal streak.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • morrisella Fitch 1859 (Argyromiges) - MONA 1983: 0773; Type locality: not given, possibly Salem, NY (Davis & De Prins 2011:52)
  • amphicarpeaella Chambers 1877 (Lithocolletis)
  • texanella Zeller 1876 (Lithocolletis)
  • Taxonomic Notes: Macrosaccus morrisella (Fitch, 1859), n. comb., was formerly in the genus Phyllonorycter (Davis & De Prins, 2011).
