Distribution: Type locality: "St. Domingo". Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Pterocypha defensata Walker, 1862 • Azelina australata Hulst, 1886 • Larentia decertaria Herrich-Schäffer, 1870 • Phibalapteryx floridata Walker, [1863] Taxonomic Notes: Pterocypha defensata Walker, 1862 was listed as a synonym of 7299 Pterocypha floridata (Walker, [1863]) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). But defensata has priority and floridata should be treated as the junior synonym. This error was corrected in Becker & Miller (2002), J. Lepid. Soc., 56(1): 41.
