  • All identifications in the genus Parornix should be considered tentative including those that were dissected or DNA barcoded. An unpublished work by Don Davis includes illustrations of genitalia, presumably based on type specimens, for all species. Using that as a guide reveals that many past descriptions and keys cannot be applied with confidence.
  • Parornix anglicella (Stainton, 1850) is likely extralimital to NA.
  • Parornix nr. anglicella?, reprented by BOLD:ADF5045 with specimens from Prince Edward Island and Manitoba, may be part of a species complex which includes anglicella based on DNA barcode.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • crataegifoliella (Clemens, 1860) (Ornix) - MONA 1983: 0670
