Distribution: Type locality (M. deceptrix): Tehuacan, Mexico.
Type locality (M. g. sobriaria): Regington, AZ.
Similar Species:

Itame sobriaria Barnes & McDunnough, 1917
Taxonomic Notes: Macaria deceptrix (Dyar, 1913), formerly placed in the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008), MONA Fascicle 17.2: 148, is returned to the genus Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
Previously listed as 6312 Itame sobriaria in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), this species includes as a new synonym Itame graphidaria sobriaria Barnes & McDunnough, 1917 in Ferguson (2008).
