Distribution: Type Locality: Illinois. Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: Peoria gematella (Hulst, 1887) Spermatophthora gematella Hulst, 1887 Spermatophthora gemmatilla Hulst, 1887 (misspelling) Cayuga bistriatella Hulst, 1890 Pectinigera [sic] pamponerella Dyar, 1908 Pectinigeria gemmatella (McDunnough, 1939) (misspelling) Taxonomic Notes: Peoria gematella (Hulst, 1887) is restored as the valid name. Originally described as "gemmatilla", the spelling was changed to "gematella" on the corrections page of same work. This species was misspelled as "gemmatella" in the Hodges 1983 Checklist and McDunnough (1939).
