Distribution: Type locality: Claremont, CA.
Description/
Field Marks:
Forewing brownish with distinct black transverse lines. See Dyar (1907, 1913). As of 2023, barcoded specimens at BOLD appear to represent misidentifications.
Similar Species:
  • Macrotheca bilinealis Barnes & McDunnough, 1918 is found in southeast AZ.
    Alpheias transferens Dyar, 1917, though very different is often confused in collections. It is a smaller grayish moth with a jagged white am. line.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
