Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Schoenobius albicostellus Fernald, 1888 • Schoenobius uniformellus Dyar, 1917 Taxonomic Notes: Donacaula albicostellus (Fernald, 1888), listed as a subspecies of 5316 Donacaula melinellus (Clemens, 1860) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is informally raised to full species status in Martinez (2010) (dissertation).
