Synonymy: alva Evans, 1952 (Urbanus) - MONA 1983: [NEW in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023)] belli of authors; (not Hayward, 1935) (Goniurus) misappl. Taxonomic Notes: Urbanus alva Evans, 1952, formerly a synonym of Urbanus belli Hayward (1935) is elevated to full species from in Zhang et al. (2019), Tax. Rep. Int. Lepid. Surv. 8(2): 5-6. This species was first recorded north of Mexico from Texas in Warren (1997), News Lepid. Soc. 39(3): 41. U. belli is extralimital north of Mexico.
