Field Marks:
Identifications at BOLD for species in Cochylini are often confused. Per Gilligan et al. (2020), the correct BIN for maiana is BOLD:AAM0777, see References for BIN link.
Similar Species:
  • Rolandylis fusca Pogue, 2001 forewing ground color is fuscous, not cream as in maiana.
  • Rolandylis virilia Pogue, 2001 is best separated by genitalia.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Phalonia maiana Kearfott, 1907
Rolandylis catalonica Gibeaux, 1985
Taxonomic Notes: Rolandylis maiana (Kearfott, 1907), previously listed in the genus Hysterosia in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is transferred to Rolandylis (rev. stat.) in Pogue (2001), Proc. Ent. Soc. Wash.,103(3): 788-796.
