| Taxonomic Notes: |
Phalonidia lepidana (Clemens, 1860) [3836] (Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist)) includes as synonyms plummeriana Busck, 1907, schwarziana Busck, 1907, straminiodes Grote, 1873 and zaracana Kearfott, 1907 in Brown (2005). Straminiodes is raised to full species status in Metzler & Brown (2014). Michael Sabourin (pers. comm., 10/27/2020) suggests that ontariana Razowski, 1997 should also be included as a synonym of lepidana and that plummeriana, schwarziana and zaracana should be treated as synonyms of straminiodes. MPG follows this interpretation for identification purposes pending further investigation. |
