Taxonomic Notes: |
Phtheochroa vulneratana of authors; (not Zetterstedt, 1839) is a cryptic species mistakenly regarded as the European species Phtheochroa vulneratana (Zetterstedt, 1839) in Powell (1990), Jour. Lepid. Soc., 44: 91. The two taxa are well separated by DNA barcode with the latter treated as extralimital to North America in Gilligan et al. (2020), Insects, 11(9), 594: 1-59. The number 3826 was occupied by Honca grandis (Busck, 1907) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist). |
