Holotype: Vineland Station, ON.
Paralectotypes: Canada: ON, MB; USA: TX.
Description/
Field Marks:
WS: 9-13 mm (Razowski 1997). Ground color whitish/pinkish brown, markings brown, median fascia usually divided, anal portion not necessarily triangular (Michael Sabourin, pers. com., 2023).
Genitalia: See Razowski (1997).
Similar Species:
  • Cochylichroa hospes (Walsingham, 1884) is larger with well defined triangular patch on the inner margin of the FW (Michael Sabourin, pers. com., 2023).

Synonymy: Cochylis bucera Razowski, 1997
Taxonomic Notes: Cochylichroa bucera (Razowski, 1997), n. sp., Acta. Zool. Cracov. 40:136, generic assignment follows in Gilligan & Brown in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023) and is supported by genitalia and DNA barcode (M. Sabourin, in litt., 5iv2023).
