Taxonomic Notes: Aethes sonorae (Walsingham, 1884) was added to the list some time prior to 2014 without explanation. It is listed as excluded by Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). However, a specimen from Arizona exists in the NMNH (Hugh McGuiness, pers. comm. 2024) and the species may be represented by BOLD:ACE4290, a BIN group with specimens from AZ. This species is retained pending further work.
