Similar Species:
  • The following members spiraeifoliana species complex (Gilligan et al. 2008) cannot at present be reliably distinguished by external features of adults. (A. mira is here included based on DNA barcode):
    • 3365 A. spiraeifoliana
    • 3366 A. laciniana
    • 3367 A. burgessiana
    • 3368 A. mira
    • 3369 A. fuscociliana
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Anchylopera spiraeifoliana Clemens, 1860
Phoxopteryx spiraeifoliana Walsingham, 1879
Anchylopera spireaefoliana Clemens, 1860
Taxonomic Notes: Ancylis spiraeifoliana (Clemens, 1860) corrects the spelling of spireaeifoliana at MPG, an apparent typo. Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist) lists as a synonym spireaefoliana (Clemens, 1860), a misspelling corrected by later authors based on the host plant genus Spiraea.
