Taxonomic Notes: Gypsonoma nitidulana (Lienig & Zeller, 1846), is treated as a extralimital (Palearctic) and excluded from the NA list in Pohl et al. (2018) and listed as extralimital in Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). Reported from the the Yukon in Lafontaine & Wood (1997), voucher material could not be located and the record was declared erroneous. However, DNA barcode does support the possibility of nitidulana in Canada with specimens from Canada falling squarely with the two branches of the barcode tree containing nitidulana from Europe. MPG will continue to list the species as possible in NA but unverified. Further work is needed.
