Similar Species:
  • Phiaris glaciana (Möschler, 1860) is separated by genitalia and apparently DNA barcode.

Synonymy:
  • bipunctana (Fabricius, 1794) (Pyralis); TL: Italy.
  • yama (Kawabe, 1974) (Olethreutes)
  • Taxonomic Notes: Phiaris bipunctana (Fabricius, 1794) is recognized within the North American fauna north of Mexico in Landry et al, (2013). Formerly placed in Olethreutes, the current generic treatment follows Aarvik (2017).
