Genitalia: See British Lepidoptera. Similar Species: Argyresthia chalcochrysa Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: pygmaeella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) (Tinea) - MONA 1983: 2474 alpina Müller-Rutz, 1920 (Argyresthia) capilella Strand, 1901 (Argyresthia) hyperboreella Strand, 1920 (Argyresthia) rudolphella (Esper, 1791) (Tinea) semifasciella (Haworth, 1828) (Tinea) Taxonomic Notes: Argyresthia pygmaeella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) is a poorly studied species. North American specimens may refer to 2447 Argyresthia chalcochrysa Meyrick, 1913. DNA barcode separates Nearctic specimens of pygmaeella, BIN BOLD:AAA6669, from Eurasian, BIN BOLD:ADD9964, by nearly 2%. One of the specimens in AAA6669 is identified as chalcochrysa.
