Similar Species:
  • Leucania insueta is separated by DNA barcode and usually has a dark basal line below the white medial vein.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • dia (Grote, 1879) (Heliophila)
      Type locality: San Francisco, CA.
  • comma of authors; (not Linnaeus, 1761) (Phalaena) misappl.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Leucania dia (Grote, 1879), formerly treated as a subspecies of 10449 L. insueta Guenée, 1852 in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is elevated to full species and includes as a synonym Leucania comma of authors; (not Linnaeus, 1761) [10448] in Anweiler & Schmidt in Pohl et al. (2010), ZooKeys, 38: 508.
