Similar Species:
  • Sympistis terminalis (Smith, 1888) is separated by distribution. It has distinct orbicular and reniform spots, typically nearly obsolete in S. coprocolor; subterminal shade extends to costa; basal 2/3 of hind wing whiter and more pale.

  • Taxonomic Notes: Sympistis coprocolor (Troubridge & Crabo, 1998), n. comb. in Troubridge (2008), was formerly in the genus Oncocnemis.
