Distribution: Type locality (acuna): San Antonio, TX. Type locality (adustus): San Antonio, TX. Similar Species: Oxycnemis gracillinea (Grote, 1881) tends to be less contrastingly marked. Leucocnemis variabilis Barnes & McDunnough, 1918 typically has hind wings pale smoky brown. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Oxycnemis acuna Barnes, 1907 • Oxycnemis adustus Smith, 1907 Taxonomic Notes: Sympistis acuna (Barnes, 1907), n. comb., was formerly in the genus Oxycnemis (Schmidt in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023).
