Larva and Host Plants: Leaf-miner of American chestnut (Castanea dentata). Similar Species: Coptotriche zelleriella (Clemens, 1859) is smaller. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: castaneaeella (Chambers, 1875) (Tischeria) - MONA 1983: 0140 castanella (Walsingham, 1891) (Tischeria) emend. cinereotunicella (Braun, 1927) (Tischeria) cinerotunicella; (Braun, 1972) (Tischeria) missp. Taxonomic Notes: Coptotriche castaneaeella: Formerly placed in the genus Tischeria.
