Arctia olschwangi. This species has been recorded from the North Slope region of Alaska (specimens in Alaska Lepidoptera Survey Collection). This species appears to be most closely related to A. brachyptera, with which it may eventually prove to be conspecific. Based on the material studied to date, however, the North Slope specimens are more similar to Siberian A. olschwangi than to Yukon A. brachyptera, differing in details of the wing pattern, extent of female wing development and female genitalic structure, and the species status is maintained until the taxonomy of the Beringian Arctia can be examined in more detail.
