Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Phalaena pyxidifera Smith, 1797 Taxonomic Notes: Megalopyge pyxidifera was listed in the genus Lagoa in the Hodges 1983 Checklist. This genus was treated as a synonym of Megalopyge by Neumoegen & Dyar (1894). This synonymy was reversed and then reapplied several times since. Becker (1995) reinstated the synonymy.
