Description/
Field Marks:
Head red to orange with white front; center of the back of the head usually white.
Similar Species:
  • Pygarctia lorula Dyar, 1914, front of head gray, has apparently not been found in Texas.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Euchaetes roseicapitis Neumögen & Dyar, 1893
Taxonomic Notes: Pygarctia roseicapitis (Neumoegen & Dyar, 1893) was origianly described as a variety of Euchaetes elegans Stretch, 1874.
