9310198686Zale strigimacula (Guenée, 1852)
  • Zale strigimacula (Guenée, 1852), known only from southern TX and south, is returned to the list in Schmidt, Lafontaine & Troubridge (2018), ZooKeys, 788: 246, after having previously been removed in Lafontaine & Schmidt 2015.

The identity of this species is tentatively fixed based in part on type locality, Brazil, and is represented at BOLD in BIN group BOLD:AAD0033. (It is possible that Zale sp. nr. strigimacula is "true" Z. strigimacula, however, that species is unknown from Brazil.) Records from TX previously identified as Z. obsita refer to this species or Zale sp. nr. strigimacula.

Reports of Z. strigimacula from FL refer to Zale viridans of authors; (not Guenée, 1852), an undescribed species seemingly related to Z. erilda from Puerto Rico.
  • Barcode of Life (BOLD) - Caution: Some specimens shown may not be sequenced. DNA barcode provides evidence of relatedness not proof of identification.
