Hecatera dysodea. This is an introduced Eurasian species found in Utah in 1998 (Utah Co., Pleasant Grove) and Oregon in 2005 (The Dalles). Larvae feed on flowers and seeds of Compositae, especially lettuce (Lactuca spp.), and have been reported as a a pest of lettuce in Europe (Hacker et al. 2002). Vouchers in CMNH, CNC, OSU, and USNM.
