5517 -- Stored Grain Moth -- Aglossa caprealis

That's odd, I thought, while sitting on the commode -- a fly on the carpet. It turned out to be this very calm moth. I nudged it onto a large envelope and took it over to the top of the washing machine, got the photo lamp and then......couldn't get a decent photo. It reflects too much light and I couldn't tone it down. In June I found a couple more roaming through the garage, laundry room and kitchen. With a little better lighting technique the moth looks pretty much like itself.

Thanks to Larry Line for running this one down, and to Brian Sholtens for making the ID. The moth is listed worldwide, but I could only find a small, indistinct photo at an academic site for exterminators. The larvae attract more attention than does the moth.
