3747 -- The Batman Moth -- Coleostathma discopunctana

Thanks go to John Glaser for identifying this moth. The degree of wear can create many appearances in this species, but some form of the central marking usually remains. When Larry Line opened the vial in which I brought a specimen to him, he yelled "Batman!" That's how common names originate, folks. I just write this stuff down. Larry blurts out a name and it sticks for posterity. Someone once said, "Gee, that looks like a bird dropping....."
